What were the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and why did they lead to the U.S. Constitution?

The weakness of the Articles of Confederation was they provided more power to the states than the central government (Congress should rely on the states to collect taxes and to carry out the acts of Congress). Hamilton was most responsible for the articles being thrown out which led to a stronger federal government.
