When someone gets deceived by false teachings is it their fault or the teachers fault?

both parties are responsible, the false teacher for obvious reason, the person who got deceived for not following God's word, and staying in it, so that they wouldn't be deceived. Now, it is clear in the Bible, that the false teacher will definitely get a worse punishment.
