How long should I fast my cats before bloodwork for diabetes/hyperthyroidism/liver… panels?

just overnight. i just had my cat at the vet. he said getting a pee sample first thing in morning and before he ate anything is best. foods do alter ph in urine, and sugars in blood. so i would say 12 hours. overnight.
