Husband is being offered a transfer to the UK; how much will our taxes be?
The cost of living is very expensive in the UK, 48,000 is a good salary but to rent a small 2 bedroom apartment in Firmley will cost just under 1000 per month and you still have council tax to pay which will be around 200 per month. The income tax is around 25%.If you rent your property it will be cled as taxable income which will be taxed through your salary and there is no exemptions for wife and child. There is over 2 million people unemployed in the UK and jobs are not secure, there is around 300 people applying for each vacancy. If i had a choice I would live in California rather than here in the UK. Food is expensive and cigarettes are 5 a packet of 20 which is around $5. Good Luck
