Kenmore 80 Series dryer problem?

I have a Kenmore 80 series dryer that was running fine until last night. I turned it on to do a second load and it started making this loud kind of clanking/banging noise. It would heat up and run for about 30 seconds and then shut off. If I hit the start on it would start right back up again and then shut off after 30 seconds again. It also seems that it was hotter than normal. It is a used dryer but I have only had it for 5 months so I don't know if it could be clogged already. Should I try to clean it out or does it sound like it could be the motor?
