What is a good book that fits this description?

I'm looking for a good book to read on an overseas flight. I dont really care how long the book is, but I tend to preffer a longer more developed story. I'm looking for something in the Sci-fi Fantasy genre. The closest thing I can think of to what I want is the story line of the Final Fantasy 12 video game (something like that, not a rip off of that). A story that offers a fictional world with fantasy elements, but not a medieval theme like Lord of the Rings, some more futuristic or a blend of time periods (once again like FF12). I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks!
